Just saying hi

Hey Casiope, I saw you were the main editor on this wiki. So I wanted to say hi. I'll also be helping around here, and I noticed a few things I want to bring to your attention. Not sure what you posted on your discussions page above my message but that's not what a discussions page is for. Such a page is for users to send a message to each other, so for communication. You can store such info on your user page or or make a separate page like User:Casiope/Sandbox to put your info in.

Also, I noticed here that you did a lot of separate edits on the 29th of april to the same page. Maybe it's best to just do them all in one go? I can understand you maybe missed something, but this really clutters the history page. Also, you marked all your changes as minor. Minor in terms of Wiki's is mostly fixing some grammar or changing a few things. Added the full story part is not a minor edit, so please don't mark them as such. This renders the minor marking useless if you mark everything minor.

So, I know this is the first time talking at it might seem like i'm dominant or condescending but i'm not, i'm trying to help you understand how a Wiki works better :) If you have any questions, feel free to contact me on my talk page. Kennyannydenny (talk) 11:14, 2 May 2019 (CEST)

I just had a tought about my own message and how you could interpret it, and I can't stress it enough that this was all written in good faith. I'm just trying to give some tips, nothing more. Kennyannydenny (talk) 11:48, 2 May 2019 (CEST)
Yeah no probs. I completely agree with you that filling the Wiki takes priority and can understand you're busy. Keep up the good work! :) If you need my help with anything, you can always ask. Kennyannydenny (talk) 16:55, 4 May 2019 (CEST)

Birth Control Pills

Hey Casiope. I saw you uploaded most of the pictures, awesome! I don't know how you get those images so i'll ask you instead of trying myself. It seems the Birth Control Pills got a new image ingame, they don't look like that anymore. I've already updated the description to the new one, could you please upload the new image? Thank you! Kennyannydenny (talk) 22:47, 8 May 2019 (CEST)

Also, not sure how you get the character icons (so maybe i'm asking something stupid) but maybe you could also upload those of Amelie, Emma, Sammy and Lily. All three girls are also in the game, just very minor characters. Kennyannydenny (talk) 23:37, 8 May 2019 (CEST)
Ah that explains a lot. I'm fine with not adding them to the character list then. Too bad they're probably getting removed, I really like Amelie actually :P I got those Birth Control Pills during Diane's route if my memory serves me right, got them from Dr. Priya I think, not sure. If those are still being used, then we got two birth control pill types in the game at this moment. Let me know the results! Kennyannydenny (talk) 14:31, 9 May 2019 (CEST)
I PM'ed DarkCookie on Patreon about how I hope he'll keep Amelie in the game and "Ok I keep some of the random generated characters ^-^", so hopefully that means she's there to stay :D Kennyannydenny (talk) 22:46, 21 May 2019 (CEST)

Discussion on Walkthrough page?

Where should a discussion on the Walkthrough page happen, if the actual discussion page is cluttered with writing hints? Ranthoron (talk)

While an official Project:Summertime Saga page has not yet been created to store the Manuals of Style for this wiki, the guidelines are written on the Talk pages. You're free to add your comment below the horizontal line. This situation is temporary. Casiope 14:23, 21 May 2019 (CEST)
Any objections to reordering the routes on the Walkthrough page to the same order as they appear on the Characters page? Ranthoron (talk)
It is planned to migrate each walkthrough to a dedicated page, but I already have to discuss it with the wiki managers, including Sam9 who is in charge of the technical part. This will be done in the form of subpages with a link to the main page.
If they agree, then this operation will be performed in a quiet period, certainly between Summertime Saga versions 0.18.5 and 0.19, knowing that this change affects a central element of the game community. Casiope 19:44, 21 May 2019 (CEST)
Would you mind having a look at the start of a "real" walkthrough on my personal page? Ranthoron (talk)

I have read your proposal but it does not suit several reasons that I will detail here.

First of all, there is no "real" walkthrough, Summertime Saga is not a linear game, only the different routes are. The first day is the mandatory tutorial; then the players are free to do as they see fit. No route or order is required, with the exception of secret characters. Forcing the players into various routes denies this design.
Which brings me to the second point: the more routes you begin, the more bugs you create, and the more players get lost. That's why the walkthrough page makes it clear that you have to do one route at a time. As soon as a new story begins, its characters move and are likely to interfere with another story. The bugtracker is filled with these bugs that are hard to fix. Also my background in helping players has taught me that when several stories overlap, even at their beginning, it becomes difficult to keep a clear focus. This affects the game experience.
In conclusion, my refusal is explained by the intention to keep each route independent from the beginning. While some steps are common, they are sufficiently rare not to impose a single solution. The walkthrough page is intended for all players: those who start the game, those who complete one route occasionally and those who come back for a new update.
The routes will be improved when they will have their own pages, which will leave more space to explain the requirements. But I won't change a presentation that is the most consistent and conclusive. Casiope 01:05, 24 May 2019 (CEST)

Jenny Walkthrough

I was reading through the walkthrough part for Jenny and was looking at the 4 choices for making her more friendly. I thought I made the correct choices but after I downloaded the save from DarkCookie for patch 1.8.5 I noticed she reacts way different.

Is it me or isn't it clear enough at this moment in the walkthrough, which actual option results in her becoming more friendly? For example, "You can agree or deny that Jenny is hot". That that mean that if I agree she becomes more friendly, or when I don't agree? And a less straighforward one: "You can both consent or refuse to pay to see the photos". Does consent result in friendlier behavior, or does that keep her at bitchy as the thinks she can get away with everything?

Personally i'm for making it a lot more clear in the walkthrough which option results in what. What do you think? Kennyannydenny (talk) 16:52, 4 June 2019 (CEST)

I plan to rework that part because you're not the only one to ask the question but I was waiting for the update. I have to find a way to explain this in the walkthrough. Generally speaking, the nicer the main character is to Jenny, and the more responsible he is to her (for example, by refusing to pay her or taking her back to Debbie), the softer Jenny gets. Casiope 18:56, 4 June 2019 (CEST)
So, by only being nice to her, sometimes choosing the not so responsible choice, she ends up not learning anything? I remember encountering such conversations and always did what she asked (I paid her for example), and ended up begging like a dog for everything :D I always hoped there was another way to soften her. Good to hear you were planning on rewriting that. As this is the first case of that, it's best to make it like we want, so that future cases can be dealt with in the same manner. Kennyannydenny (talk) 19:46, 4 June 2019 (CEST)

I have reviewed the presentation of this feature: symbols and colors should help to better understand the consequences of the 4 choices. I don't think this feature will be reused in another route. Casiope 16:40, 5 June 2019 (CEST)

So, maybe i'm just dumb (I probably am) but, do the green arrows then mean she'll become more friendly? or do the mark the 'good' options? I remember making all green marked choices in my game, except for fourth, and she was still a complete bitch and I had to beg for everything. Or do the red things result in her getting friendlier? I re-read the message at the top and that is most problably it. Choosing the red arrow options results in her getting friendlier. Wow, I let her walk right over me xD Kennyannydenny (talk) 18:22, 5 June 2019 (CEST)
I reused the exact same color scheme given in the game (dark‐red and teal‐blue). This corresponds to what is written for each choice now (dominating or submission). It's up to the players to select how they want the main character to be treated by Jenny. I don't want to detail each consequence at the risk of overloading the walkthrough for a rather minor feature, since only a few dozen dialog sentences will be changing (out of several hundred in total for Jenny). Casiope 18:41, 5 June 2019 (CEST)
Oh ok, didn't know there were colors in the game for that choices, can't remember I saw those... On my screen it looks like green and red, sorry, didn't know it was blue. Fine by me this way then. I'll probably choose the mean options next time, as I didn't like it at all that my MC was just being used by Jenny with no respect towards him at all. Thanks for the explanation! I'll keep the colors in mind during my next playthrough, i'm curious where i'll see those ingame. Kennyannydenny (talk) 19:02, 5 June 2019 (CEST)
