Dating and pregnancy are two game features and the outcomes of the storylines of many characters in Summertime Saga. They are optional and so, are not requested to complete the routes.
Dating
This points‐based system, not yet developed, will allow the player to build a romantic relationship with the main character's high school classmates by inviting them to events or by offering them gifts. The dates will take place in the routes between the main quests and the intercourses. It is expected that points will be lost with the characters who are flirted with simultaneously. The culmination of these efforts will be the prom for which one girlfriend will be convinced to be the main character's partner.
Pregnancy
In the course of the love stories, player is able to make women pregnant through the impregnation minigame. The announcement is done a week later. From then, this event lasts 7 weeks during which the progress of some routes is paused. The gestation evolves over 4 weeks and three different stages until another message informs about the childbirth. Note that both phone messages must be read since announcements are mandatory steps.
Newborns can be a boy, a girl or twins of opposite sexes. The character stays inside the hospital a couple of days. Another 3 weeks pass until the baby is sent to daycare and normal activities can be resumed.
Pills for pregnancy planning become available at the hospital at the end of Diane's route. First you have to talk to the nurse on the 2nd floor, then to Roz on the 1st floor, and finally enter the lab on the 3rd floor where you meet Dr. Priya Singh while searching the cases. The drugs are used by clicking on the items inside the inventory. Their effects are permanent but not definitive, since each type of pill cancels the effect of the other one. Keep in mind that the initial chance of conception is 20%:
- Birth control pills prevent impregnation, reducing the chance by 20%.
- Fertility pills make fertilization easier, raising the chance by 20%.
