=Chapter 1: The Most Beautiful Night=

On my usual evening walk around town, taking a shortcut through the park, I looked around. “Wow, the park looks amazing in this light.” I caught myself saying aloud. The moonlight came in at an angle and streaked across the trees bathing the entire scene in a calming blue tone. I saw Her over by the fountain... ''Wow she looks amazing'' I thought to myself. The gentle moonlight reflected on her pale skin seemed to give her an almost ethereal glow. Her streaming blue hair with blonde tips made her unmistakable. Eve, ''I haven’t seen her since her for a while''. She seemed engulfed in her drawing; Headphones on, naturally with these little cute cat ears jutting out, she was so beautiful.

She looked up and noticed me staring. She smiled and took off her headphones. “Hey Daniel! I didn’t see you there.”

“Yeah I uh… I’m just out for an evening walk” I said, trying to play it cool and failing miserably  “So… what are you drawing?”

She looked down coyly. “Just this cat I saw over by the graveyard.” ''Why would she go to the graveyard?'' 

Say something smart! “A cat huh?” Crap.

She smiled softly at me. “It’s the prettiest kitty I’ve ever seen!”

I walked over and sat down next to her. “Can I see?” ''Smooth''. It was good. Really good. She is so much better at drawing than I am. “Wow! This is fantastic. You are way more talented than me.”
 
She frowned and looked kind of flustered. “Oh! you don’t mean that! You’re just saying that.” A smile beamed across her face. ''I think my heart stopped.''
 
“N... no I mean it. This is amazing.” ''Quick! Talk about something else!'' I looked up and only then noticed the bright big full moon above. “It’s a really beautiful night, isn’t it?”
 	
Taking her eyes off me for a moment she gazed up at the moon. The outline of her face became clearer when the moonlight softly kissed her skin. ''What was I just thinking about?'' “Yes, it is.” She looked back at me and smiled. My Heart was pounding. I couldn’t think. ''Quick say something clever.''

“Y…You…I… uh” ''Dammit''.

“I… I should probably go home. It’s getting late.” Really?

She rolled her eyes at me, visibly disappointed. “Yeah, you’re probably right.” She said, begrudgingly. “My sister is going to kill me if I get home too late anyway.” She got up and playfully punched me on the arm softly. “See you at school, Yeah?”
I did not want her to leave. “Sure! See you around!” ''My stomach was sinking.''
 
Eve got up, collected her things and waved before she walked off. I sat there feeling like an idiot and made an awkward wave back. ''That could’ve gone better.''
 

A few weeks had passed and it was the beginning of school. I woke up as normal and put some clothes on. ''Sigh, why did I have to act so weird.'' I went downstairs to find that Debbie had made breakfast for me and my father. I looked around, half confused and asked, “Where’s Jenny off to so early?”
Debbie sighs, “She left to find a job. I hope she can keep the next one for more than a week.” ''I didn’t know Jenny got fired from her last job.''

“Yeah, she doesn’t seem to be able to handle such responsibilities. Even if she is already 24 years old.” Dad cracked. Debbie giggled a little.  ''At least we can all get along even if we’re not family.''

“You could probably start your own restaurant with your food,” I remarked, smiling. ''The food really was amazing.''

“Oh. I couldn’t do that,” She said sheepishly.

“No, I think he’s right,” Remarked my father smiling. ''He’s smiling but he looks worried. What’s going on with him?''

“Oh geez, I’m gonna be late if I stay here any longer,” I say hurrying out the door. The school wasn’t far away so I could walk there pretty quickly. I decided to take a look at my schedule. ''I have science first, after science is Art then French. French is my worst subject. After French I have PE then music.'' I finished reading. As I entered the building I could see the crowded halls packed with people. I looked around a little and saw Eve entering the Art class. 

''Looks like I’m gonna be spared the embarrassment.'' I went into class and sat down. The teacher for science was Miss Okita. Apparently she had been working at this big organization but her inventions didn’t go well. After the first few times she ended up being fired for her failure, and it brought her here as a teacher. After science was over I went to Art. Luckily for me it seemed like Eve already left. I’m getting embarrassed just thinking about it. Our art teacher is Miss Ross. She’s not some well known artist, but she’s really good, but not as good as Eve. 

We spent the whole class drawing on the art pads she handed out to us. Of course, I still couldn’t get Eve out of my mind so I ended up drawing her just as I saw her in the moonlight. I felt my heart racing as I thought about her. ''Why do I feel like this? What’s happening to me?'' Before I realized it class was over, so I put the art pad into my backpack and went to my next class. Ah shit, I think to myself as I see Eve sitting in one of the desks. ''I guess I can’t avoid her forever, right?'' 

She looks up and sees me and says, “Hey what’s up? I haven’t seen you in a while.” With her usual, soft voice.

''Think of something to say'', “Yeah, I’ve just been a little busy lately.”

“That’s fair,” she says looking at me, “Why don’t you sit here next to me so we can talk a bit?”

“Alright,” as I sit down, “So how’s your day going?”

She looks up, thinking, “It’s been normal I guess. What about you?” She finishes looking back at me” ''Why do your eyes look so good?'' I think as I look into them, stunned.

“W-Well it was nothing special.” I say nervously. Why do I get so nervous around her? “Just went to science, we were using the microscopes to look at some stuff. Then I had to go to art and draw on the artpads they-”

“Oh, can I see what you drew?” she interrupted, excited, “Oh, wait here check this out.” As she handed me her artpad from out of her backpack and handed it to me. She drew a couple of wolves howling at the moon. “What do you think Daniel?” as she looks at me waiting for a response.

''What do I think? How do I start? It’s amazing. The color, the realism, the style, just simply great.'' “I think you have a great talent for this Eve.” I look back over at her. She had a shy looking smile on her face, looking away from me.

“You think so?” as she brought her eyes back on me.

“Think so” I look back at her, “Nah, I don’t think so.” She started to get a sad look on her face now, ''She looks so cute like this.'' “I know so.”

“You do?” she looked back at me with a great smile, “Are you interested in seeing more?” 

“M-more?” My heart skips a beat, ''Oh she means her art. What’s wrong with me? Why am I having these weird thoughts of her.'' 

“Yeah, of course. I like looking at your art.” 

“You should come over to my place tonight.”

“Won’t your parents be upset?” As I finish I could see sadness fill her eyes.

“N-no, they wouldn’t. It’s just me and my sister, Grace. Our parents aren’t around anymore.” Looking away from me.
''That’s why she was at the graveyard before.'' 

“O-oh, I’m sorry I didn’t-”

“It’s fine,  you didn’t know.”

“O-okay, so tonight?” I ask awkwardly.

“Yeah, the tattoo place, Sugar Tats. My sister runs it but It’s also where we live.”

“Oh really? I’ve seen the place a few times so I’ll be over.” I finish as the bell rings and class begins. Miss Bissette starts the lesson, but frequently I would look at Eve and not hear anything she said. She looks so beautiful sitting there listening to Miss Bissette. As I looked at her I had lost track of time and class was over. 

“Don’t forget,” she said looking at me, “Tonight.” and left. 

After French I had to go change and go to PE. Miss Bridget made us run track and do some exercises and not much else, and yet I find myself thinking about Eve the whole time. ''Why can't I get her out of my head?'' After I finished with PE I took a quick shower and changed back into my normal clothes. After I finished changing I went towards my next class, music. While I was in music I still couldn't think about anything but Eve.
